2015 Blog Post #12: ECCC Starts Tomorrow!

🎶 Tomorrow, tomorrow ECCC starts tomorrow! ECCC is only a day away! 🎶

It all begins tomorrow (well, the official con, but a bunch of stuff is happening tonight already) and honestly, I don't think I'm ready. I've still got two and a half portraits to finish painting, scanning and trimming also has to be done along with printing copies to have signed. Then there's putting together my outfits and making sure I have snacks and anything else I might need. And though I believe I'm far from ready, I'm also really excited! There'll be so much to do, so much to see, so many people to meet! I'm not really sure where my friends and I will start but I do know that it will be fun!

For tomorrow though, I'm most looking forward to seeing Hayley Atwell since I'm a HUGE Agent Carter fan! I'm so thrilled that she'll be at ECCC, even if it's only for a day. My other "top" people I'm super excited about are John Barrowman, Gina Torres, and the last minute addition of Alex Kingston.

I'm sad that there have been so many celebrity cancellations this year and for a lot of people I was looking forward to seeing. I understand that they're working actors and things happen, so it's okay. This also means that they're working on new projects abs doing things we'll get to see in the future and that's awesome!

A cool thing happened the other day. I finished the coffee portrait of Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter and prayed a picture to my instagram which simultaneously posted to my Tumblr. I left it and didn't think much of it since most of the time my stuff goes unnoticed. A while later I noticed I had a bunch of notifications from Tumblr on my phone and I started to wonder what was going on since that's unusual. I scripted through the notifications to see what the first one was and saw that Wil Wheaton had reblogged my picture with the added caption of,  "WOW." And that explained what was happening and why my Tumblr was blowing up. I like to call that "The Wil Wheaton Effect" since the only other time I had a post get more than a couple notes was when he reblogged it. But I'd never had anything get as much attention as this which now had over a thousand notes! It's cool to know that all of these people have seen and liked something that I created and am really proud of!

After this weekend (probably Tuesday or Wednesday after I've recovered a bit) I'll upload the completed coffee portraits here. I'll add notes on reactions and such like I usually do. No surprise, but next week's blog post is likely to be all about ECCC.
